Members of the Prince Edward County OPP have charged a driver with refusal as the result of a single-vehicle collision.
Early Friday, shortly after midnight, officers responded alongside Hastings Quinte EMS and Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue to the collision on Miller Road. Officers spoke with the driver and a demand for an approved screening device was made. As a result, the driver was arrested. Ramandeep Lehal, age 43 from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Failure or refusal to comply with demand
· Dangerous operation
· Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 20, 2024. The driver also had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
