A man with no fixed address has been charged after an alarming incident around 4 o’clock Thursday morning in Belleville.
A College Street East resident had fallen asleep on the couch with his nine-year-old son when he woke up to find an unknown man standing nearby watching them.
The man ran away when confronted but hung around outside the house as the resident called police.
Officers arrived quickly and arrested the 37-year-old. He was charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and prowl by night.
He was held in custody for a show cause hearing.
