The City of Quinte West has approved entering into an agreement with the Quinte Young Professionals for the construction of beach volleyball courts at Centennial Park.
Council will be taking out $5,000 from the 2024 Community Grants budget in order to fund the endeavour.
City staff confirmed to council that Quinte Young Professionals would be responsible for construction costs before turning over the courts to the city.
Operational costs are expected to be $7,800 annually to account for other sports fields and outdoor maintenance being done at the park.
Should construction of the courts be completed before the end of 2024, there will be no cost for residents for the remainder of the season.
Fees would then be established in 2025.
