Loyalist College continues to attract some well-known Canadians to its Speaker Series.
In its next instalment on March 26, the college will welcome comedian, television personality, and author Rick Mercer.
Mercer will bring his bestselling memoir Talking to Canadians to life on stage.
With television hits such as The Rick Mercer Report, Made in Canada, and This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Mercer is known for his keen observations and sharp satire of Canadian life and politics. In addition to Talking to Canadians and The Road Years, Mercer’s literary contributions include the Rick Mercer Final Report and three other national bestsellers. Mercer was a 2019 recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement for his outstanding contributions to Canadian entertainment and literature. His other accolades, including an Officer of the Order of Canada, over 25 Gemini Awards, and a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, acknowledge his lasting impact on Canada’s cultural landscape.
“We are honoured and excited to welcome Rick Mercer, a true Canadian icon, to Loyalist College,” says Loyalist College President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick. “Mercer’s ability to blend humour with insightful commentary on Canada’s cultural and political landscape, coupled with his inspiring life story, makes him a perfect fit for our Speaker Series. Expect to be inspired, engaged and, of course, entertained.”
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Loyalist College Student Food Cupboard and used to support students facing food insecurity.
Tickets are $10.
