Hastings County council has approved an ambulance service to operate out of the Mohawk Fire Hall on the Tyendinaga Territory.
Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services will operate the service which is expected to begin in September of this year.
The agreement is for eight years and the ambulance will be available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
With start-up costs included, the cost of the Tyendinaga operation will be about $3.2 million for this year.
The cost is fully funded by the provincial government.
The ambulance will be available for calls outside of the Territory and is seen as an overall improvement to the region’s service.
