The Municipality of Brighton has announced Elana Arthurs as its new Chief Administrative Officer.
Arthurs will be joining the municipality effective April 8.
She brings over 15 years of municipal experience, recently serving as CAO in the Township of Douro-Dummer.
The following statement was provided by Arthurs in a press release about her new role:
“I am deeply honoured and excited to have been selected as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Municipality of Brighton. I am committed to working collaboratively with Council, staff, and residents to promote transparency and enhance service delivery. I look forward to serving this vibrant community with integrity, dedication, and enthusiasm to address current challenges, seize new opportunities and ensure the continued prosperity of Brighton. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility as together we strategically shape this community towards sustainable growth, innovation, ensuring everyone is involved and valued.”
Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander also provided a statement saying he was proud of the recruitment process and that Arthurs was a “natural fit” to fill the role.

Ms. Arthurs brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role, currently serving as CAO for the Township of Douro-Dummer and holding the recent distinction of President of the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO). Her proven track record in municipal leadership, combined with her strong understanding of local government operations and commitment to public service, makes her an ideal candidate to lead our municipality forward. I am confident that her strategic vision and collaborative approach will be invaluable assets to Brighton. The municipality says current CAO Bob Casselman will be completing his contract on April 5, to ensure a seamless transition.
