The Belleville Downtown District BIA celebrated its 20th annual Savour the Chill competition on February 24. Despite the chilly weather, the streets of downtown Belleville were bustling with activity as locals and visitors celebrated the vibrant atmosphere of the Downtown District.
This year’s Savour the Chill event featured a fierce competition among 21 downtown businesses. Each was motivated to create the most mouth watering soups for both the public and a panel of esteemed judges.
The judges, Mayor Neil Ellis, Chief Mike Callaghan, Chef Karin Desveaux from Loyalist College, Executive Director of Bay of Quinte Marketing Board Dug Stevenson and Brenda Foran from the Chamber, enjoyed exploring the district and sampling all the delicious soups from the downtown restaurants.
Here are the winners of the 20th annual Savour the Chill:
People’s Choice Award:
BayLeaf – First Place
Frosty Bubble Bliss – Second Place
Bourbon Street Pizza – Third Place
Judge’s Choice Awards:
Burger Revolution – First Place
Obi’s Kitchen – Second Place
Toro Sushi – Third Place
Expressing her delight at the success, Danielle Hanoman, Executive Director of the Belleville Downtown Business Area, remarked:
“I am thrilled that the 20th year of Savour the Chill was a success. It was amazing to see so many people walking the streets of downtown Belleville. We plan to have more events like this in the future for the public to enjoy.”
Over $1000 was raised during the event for the Community Development Council of Quinte (CDC Quinte). All contributions are remaining in Hastings Prince Edward County, and will directly support the good food box and baby box programs offered through CDC Quinte.
