Belleville police responded to 83 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 22, 2024 to 5 a.m. on February 23, 2024.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On February 22, 2024 shortly after 5:30 p.m., members of the Belleville Police Service, Belleville Fire and Hastings-Quinte EMS were called to a three-vehicle collision on North Park St. near the Public Health Unit. One person was transported to BGH with minor injuries. One vehicle was towed from the scene. Belleville Public Works attended to remove debris from the roadway. As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old driver was charged with making a turn not in safety. The driver was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.
Vehicle Struck Pedestrian – Police Seeking Witnesses
On February 20, 2024 at 4:35 p.m., police were called to Dundas St East and Foster Ave regarding a vehicle that had struck a 61-year-old pedestrian. Belleville Fire and Hastings-Quinte EMS also attended. Police learned that a white Toyota, possibly a Camry, was travelling south on Foster Ave. and turned west on Dundas St. striking the pedestrian. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian was transported to BGH with minor injuries. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene. Witnesses describe the vehicle as being driven by an older white male. Police are continuing the investigation and seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle.
