2023 was, for the most part, a decent year for industry in the Quinte region.
Thursday the Quinte Economic Development Commission heard that ten new or existing businesses had either expanded or opened a location in the area.
Those included Amazon, Vision Transportation, Anamet Canada, Kellogg, Magna International, and Quinte Custom Foods.
Of course there were closures and layoffs as well, most recently at the Cascades operations in Trenton and Belleville.
Meanwhile, the QEDC says it was able to offer specialized training to over 500 existing manufacturing employees in 2023, helping their respective industries to remain competitive.
QEDC Executive Director Chris King told the board of directors that interest remains high from industries looking to locate in the region.
