Lake effect snow squalls beginning near midnight.
Hazards: Significantly reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm by late Sunday afternoon. Southwest winds gusting up to 80 km/h. Timing: Tonight into Sunday.
Discussion: Lake effect snow squalls are forecast to begin near midnight and will continue through Sunday afternoon before moving south of the area Sunday evening. In addition, southwesterly winds gusting up to 80 km/h will accompany these snow squalls particularly near the shores of Lake Ontario resulting in significantly reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
