The Free Flow Petroleum U16s Net 5 of 6 Points this Week
Monday night, the Devils traveled to Whitby for what turned out to be a back-and-forth, action-packed battle. Ryan Kinghan (Liam Campbell and Matt Hicks) put the Devils on the board midway through the first. The Devils took a penalty in the closing minutes of the period and Whitby capitalized, with the first frame ending in a 1-1 draw. Whitby and Quinte exchanged goals early in the second, with Campbell (Kinghan and Mickael Fournier) lighting the lamp. Two more Red Devils penalties allowed Whitby to take the lead before the end of the second. Quinte rallied in the third, with Jacob Moore (Noah Lesser and Kinghan) converting on a Red Devil power play. Soon after Maddox Dagenais (Campbell and Matthew Airhart) would even the score to send the game to overtime. Despite chances both ways, neither team could find the net. Otsirakatste Brant held down the net in the 4-4 draw.

Dagenais (Lemieux and Campbell) got his second of the game, followed by Martin Brassard (Sterling Poff and Moore), who added to the Devils’ tally. Noah Groeneveld earned the 5-1 win in net.
On Sunday, the Devils closed out the showcase with the last game of the weekend against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. Scoreless through the first, Dagenais (Airhart and Fournier) got the Devils on the board on a power play at the end of the second. Another powerplay goal by Dagenais (Fournier and Campbell) early in the third gave the Devils an edge in the game. Nearing the end of the final frame, the Raiders would find the net but Lemieux (Dagenais) ended the Raiders’ hopes of a comeback with an empty net goal. Brant earned the 3-1 win between the pipes.
