Grace Inn Shelter is preparing to host their third annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
This year’s fundraising goal is $75,000. Funds raised will directly support programs by Grace Inn Shelter to provide shelter, food, job search resources and more to those experiencing homelessness in Belleville.
Event organizer Jodie Jenkins said they’re making good progress towards this year’s goal.
“I think we’re about 32% there, so we’ve got a little ways to go,” said Jenkins. “Typically, in this type of event, we see a lot of action and donations coming in, in the last two weeks. So hopefully, that will remain constant.”
The charity march takes place along with 200 other cities and towns across Canada.
The fundraiser walk will take place on February 24, with both a 2km route and a 5km route. Starbucks coffee will be available to help warm up, along with soup served by Chilangos. Family-friendly activities like face painting will also be occurring.
Last year’s fundraiser raised $67,000, beating their goal of $65,000.
