Hastings County has released its winter quarter report for the Built for Zero initiative.
This report tracks the number of people experiencing homelessness in the area. The current report covers October 2023 to December 2023.
Hastings County’s most recent estimates show at least 155 unhoused people in the area. Of that total, 117 are considered chronically homeless, meaning they’ve been homeless for longer than six months.
Over the period covered in the report, total homelessness decreased by eight per cent. Chronic homelessness was up two per cent.
During the report period, 28 people who were homeless moved into housing, while five people who had been housed in previous quarters returned to homelessness.
