Four people are charged after Kingston Police K9 and officers tracked suspects in connection with an alleged delivery of $70,000 worth of contraband items to Joyceville Institution.
Staff at the prison observed drone activity early Wednesday and called police.
Officers located two suspects in a running vehicle inside the parking lot and observed two sets of footprints leading to a wooded area.
Two more suspects were located in the area.
A search lead to the discovery of a drone and accessories, packaging materials, a cell phone and cell phone accessories as well as a quantity of marijuana and tobacco.
Meanwhile, institution staff intercepted and seized three packages containing contraband and unauthorized items including tobacco, cannabis, edged weapons, as well as cell phones and cell phone accessories.
An 18-year-old Woodbridge individual, an 18-year-old East York individual and a 20-year-old Etobicoke individual were arrested and charged with mischief, possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis and trespass at a penitentiary.
A 26-year-old Etobicoke individual was also arrested and charged with mischief, possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis, trespass at a penitentiary and two counts of fail to comply with release order.
All four individuals were transported to Kingston Police headquarters were they were held for a bail hearing.
