Belleville police responded to 90 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 6, 2024 to 5 a.m. on February 7, 2024.
Bail violations
A call from a local hotel reporting a couple having an argument led to arrests Tuesday. Officers were dispatched to the North Front Street business around 7 p.m. after receiving reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police located and arrested a 43-year-old woman of no fixed address who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with an undertaking. Inside the room was also a 66-year-old man of no fixed address, who was on conditions not to communicate with the same female. The man was also arrested without incident. Both were later released from custody on conditions and a March 11, 2024 court date.
Names of the pair are not being released in an effort to protect the identity of those involved, given the domestic nature of the initial incident that led to charges.
Suspended driver
A 24-year-old city man was issued a March 4 date in provincial offences court following an early morning traffic stop Tuesday. Shortly after 7:30 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a vehicle stop on Sidney Street. During the stop, the officer learned the motorist was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence and expired validation stickers for the vehicle. The male was charged under the Provincial Offences Act and issued a summons to traffic court.
