Prince Edward Pickleball has announced they have raised $100,000 for the installation of new pickleball courts in Picton.
During a deputation to council on Tuesday, Prince Edward Pickleball Chair Stephanie Roth announced both the achieved funding, and their plans to construct the courts in Delhi Park.
The plans call for six courts, arranged north to south, with space surrounding them for benches and walkways. Plans also call for a storage shed nearby, and fencing surrounding the courts.
Fundraising efforts are continuing, and the courts are planned to be open for use in summer 2025.
Councillor Chris Braney was interested in seeing pickleball expand beyond Picton to other areas in the county.
“I think the initiatives that have been taken have been fantastic. Pickleball is is the rave these days,” said Councillor Braney. “I think there’s a real interest within the community and I’m all for it. It looks like a be fun initiative.”
Council voted to confirm Delhi Park as the site of the new courts and directed staff to work with Prince Edward Pickleball to continue the process for installation.
