On Saturday, the U16/U19 team travelled to Caledon Ski Club for their second slalom race of the season.
Kaelin Hearn captured her second gold medal in as many weeks winning the U16 women’s event posting the fastest time across all women’s age groups for the day.
Rachel Brady took the bronze and Kate Vandervoort finished tenth.
In the U19 Women’s race, Anabella Cowling Zeljkovic improved on her last week’s second place finish to win the gold this week.
Alexia Bianchi had two solid runs to claim the silver.
Ileana De Luca finished fifth and elena De Luca was sixth.
On the men’s side in the U16 race, Linden Forrest had two strong runs to finish fourth while Elio De Luca was seventh and Callum Moore placed eighth.
Ian Isbester turned in the two fastest runs of the day to capture the U19 men’s Gold.
Blake Cone had a great first run, and after losing a ski toward the end of his second run, he finished on one ski to hold on for a fourth place finish!
On Sunday, the U14 team travelled to Glen Eden Ski Club in Milton for their second slalom race of the season.
Jesse Nadolny continued his winning ways in the men’s race taking Gold for the second week in a row!
There was great racing by the whole team under tough course conditions. Marlie Wright led the way for Batawa finishing fourth with Spirit Lake taking fifth and Remy Dullard-Krizay placing ninth.
The U12 team opened their season on Saturday at Snow Valley just north of Barrie with a Panel Slalom.
Avery Forrest captured gold in the men’s race while in the women’s race Gwenna Cone finished fifth and Claire Noice placed ninth.
Next weekend the Batawa Ski Racing Club has all teams competing across the province. The U8 and U10 teams will be racing at Batawa Ski Hill which will be their first race of the season and in some cases the first race ever for some of the Batawa athletes. The other teams will be switching over to Giant Slalom races with the U12 team travelling to Huntsville, the U14s racing at the Heights of Horseshoe and the U16/U19 team will be racing at Mansfield.
