The Community Gardens Program, established by the City of Belleville’s Green Task Force, is now accepting applications for plots at their three gardens around the city.
The gardens are currently located at Ponton Park (251 Dundas St. West), West Hill (41 Octavia St.) and Bayview Heights (75 Bay Dr.).
“Community Gardens is always very popular with the community so we are excited to bring it back for the 12th year now,” said Amanda Azzopardi, Environmental Coordinator. “Not everyone has space or the right environment for a garden, so this program gives residents an area and the resources to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables while being a part of a community of other gardeners.”
Applications are open until Feb. 25 and the plots will be awarded through a lottery draw soon after. Applicants must be City of Belleville residents to apply.
