Seventeen-year-old Brian Hoffman of the Quinte Blades Speedskating Club brought home gold from the Ontario Elite Short Track Circuit in Newmarket over the weekend.
Skating in the Open B Men’s division, Hoffman recorded personal bests in the 1500, 1000 and in 500 metres clocking a time of 49.17 seconds, that’s over 36km/hr on those tight turns.
The Belleville native is the fastest skater with the Quinte Blades.
Next up for Hoffman is the Ontario Elite Championships, March 2-3 in Oakville.
