Kingston Military Police are investigating the theft of $50,000 worth of silver and gold coins from the Canada Post office on CFB Kingston.
Five packages containing $50,000 worth of silver and gold coins were dropped off at the Canada Post Office on CFB Kingston on January 18 around 9:45 a.m.
Approximately 15 minutes later, a French-speaking male wearing a blue medical mask, identified himself as the owner of the packages and provided a fake Ontario driver’s licence bearing the true owner’s name.
Police say the suspect arrived with a black and blue foldable cart, seemingly knowing that the packages were heavy in weight.
The next day, the true owner of the packages attended the Post Office to pick up the packages and learned they were gone.
The suspect is described as a young Caucasian male, 5’8″ to 5’9″ tall, wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.
Kingston Military Police ask that anyone with information relating to this event contact lead investigator Master Corporal Harrison Swinson at Harrison.Swinson@forces.gc.ca or at 613-541-5010 ext. 5676.
