Prince Edward County council’s Committee of the Whole will be discussing a controversial subject at its meeting Thursday.
Councillor Sam Grosso will ask the committee to recommend that council approve an Automated Speed Enforcement system in the county.
Automated Speed Enforcement is essentially photo radar in school and other Community Safety Zones and speeding tickets are sent to the registered owner of the vehicle.
The only penalty is a fine.
Demerit points aren’t involved and the owner’s driving record is not affected.
Belleville recently approved Automated Speed Enforcement involving four cameras to be rotated through various locations.
The Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Shire Hall.
