A new community benefits network is forming in Prince Edward County.
In a deputation to council, Christine Durant spoke about the community benefit network she is building and how networks like this can help enrich the surrounding community.
Currently, they are still in the early stages of organizing the network, identifying community groups with an interest in joining, and determining goals in the community they want to work towards.
Durant highlighted the successes similar organizations have achieved in other communities, such as negotiating the construction of large quantities of affordable housing in Toronto or creating food support programs in Parkdale.
Council accepted the deputation, but took no action at this time.
