Don DeGenova, mayor of Tweed, says he will be meeting with Ontario’s Infrastructure Minister, Kinga Surma, at the 2024 ROMA conference.
In his notes for Mayor’s Messages, DeGenova says he will be emphasizing the importance of a robust provincial and federal partnership to secure sustainable funding for infrastructure projects.
DeGenova says he will also emphasize what he says are insurmountable infrastructure costs coming down the pipeline over the next 20 years.
Also discussed will be local developer-anticipated infrastructure costs, with DeGenova saying that small rural developers are prepared to build but do not have the finances associated with developers in larger urban centres.
Delegations have also been sent to Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Paul Calandra and Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport Neil Lumsden.
