Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is holding a contest that encourages students to stay smoke/vape free for the month of February.
Students in Grade 7 to 12 are encouraged to register before January 31 at 11:59 p.m.
There are two contest categories.
The Quit and Win category has contestants quit smoking or vaping on or before February 1 and maintain their “quit status” until the contest ends on February 29.
HPEPH says it acknowledges quitting is hard and quit attempts are encouraged throughout the month.
If a contestant slips, they are encouraged to try again as they will still be eligible.
Ten grand prize winners will win Apple Airpods.
Up to 40 runners-up will win a $25 gift card to either Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Apple Store, or Google Play.
The other category is called Don’t Start & Win.
Contestants must not have vaped or used commercial tobacco products for at least one month before registering for the contest.
They must maintain their smoke/vape-free status until the contest ends on February 29.
Similar to the previous category, 10 grand prize winners will win a $100 Amazon gift card.
Up to 40 runners-up will win a $25 gift card to either Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Apple Store, or Google Play.
The contest is open to students in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
A link to register can be found at the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health’s website.
