A 19-year-old male of no fixed address has been held for a bail hearing on charges of assault and weapons dangerous.
Belleville police were called to a Front Street business around 11:25 Monday morning where a male allegedly assaulted an employee as he was being removed from the premises.
The suspect, believed to have been in possession of a firearm, fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Police searched the area and located the suspect still in the downtown core.
He was arrested following a brief scuffle with police and was found to be in possession of a pistol-like BB gun.
