While there was a slight decrease in both the average price and number of transactions from the previous month in almost all regions in December, the Central Lakes Association of Realtors says it is not unexpected during the holiday season.
The amalgamated realtors association covers Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, Northumberland, Peterborough, the Kawartha Lakes and Durham Region.
Across all of Hastings County there were 89 home sales with an average price of $522,466 last month.
Forty-eight of those sales were in Belleville where the average price was $559,983.
The average price of the 27 sales in Quinte West was $560,776.
Average prices in Prince Edward County and Brighton were higher in December.
Twenty homes with an average price of $688,812 exchanged hands in the county and there were 13 sales in Brighton averaging $688,454.
Overall prices remained lower last month with the average December prices in each of those communities down from the year-to-date average with the exception of Brighton.
