Colborne’s lone grocery store, Foodland on Toronto St., was shut down following a fire that caused more than $1 million in damage in May 2023.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
A cause for the fire has not been released.
A nearby used vehicle dealer, auto repair shop, and a bicycle shop suffered some smoke and water damage.
In July 2023, Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin said the community was determined to have a grocery store return to the area but also acknowledged that a new store would still likely be one to two years away when construction time is factored in.
