Building activity in Prince Edward County was down in 2023.
The December building report shows there were 21 permits with a construction value of $1.8 million issued last month, down from the 22 permits worth $2.3 million issued in 2022.
For the year, permits issued were down 16 per cent over 2022. There were 731 permits with a construction value of just under $154.3 million issued last year.
Meanwhile, construction was up in Brighton in 2023.
Just five permits with a construction value of $521,800 were issued in December.
In December 2022, there were also five permits issued but with a construction value of just $345,000.
For the year, there were 209 permits worth $90.2 million issued last year, up from 2022’s 205 permits valued at $54.8 million.
