Monday is 2024 and Quinte News continues to look at the year ahead.
We spoke with the Town of Deseronto Mayor Dan Johnston.
“We’re anticipating this year that we would be seeing a three to five per cent increase on things we cannot control. Significant increases that we saw over the past few years was obviously fuel and electricity.”
Johnston says one of the benefits of Deseronto is its size.
“Deseronto is a little fortunate because we have 2.5 square kilometres of roads. We’re a small footprint, so we minimize some of the costs of other municipalities.”
Johnston says one way to save money for the municipality is to do shared purchasing with other municipalities.
He finished by stating that the main focus right now is on the administration and following their Asset Management Plan.
Johnston’s final comment was that he is hoping to get more building coming to the municipality, to increase the housing supply.
