New projects are on the docket for the Municipality of Brighton in the new year.
Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander said that Prince Edward Street is due for road work, along with all the infrastructure along it.
“It’s a county road but all of Brighton’s underground infrastructure runs underneath it so we have a partnership with Northumberland County to reconstruct that road,” said Mayor Ostrander. “It’s going to be a good two years of project work.”
Mayor Ostrander also says that rural roads remain a focus of the new year’s infrastructure projects, with plans to resurface long stretches of aging roads in 2024.
“We’re gonna continue our breakneck speed work on on rural roadways. They are a bit less complicated in terms of resurfacing and reconstructing, so we’re able to get many many kilometers of rural road done in a year,” said Mayor Ostrander.
The road works also include ditching and brushing to improve safety on the roadways.
