The Chief Executive Officer of Base31 in Prince Edward County has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.
Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada named Tim Jones, now living in Prince Edward County, a Member of the Order Thursday.
Jones was recognized for his visionary leadership in the arts in Toronto where he spent 22 years as CEO of an organization known as Artscape.
According to Artscape, major accomplishments during his tenure there included 13 cultural venues, creating 235 units of affordable housing for artist-led families, and neighbourhood revitalization, all of which led Jones to receive multiple awards and global recognition.
After retiring from Artscape in 2021 Jones became the leader of Base31 which has become a major arts and culture venue at the former World War II airbase near Picton.
Along with arts and entertainment, various types of housing are planned for the former base and surrounding lands.
