Lennox & Addington OPP say they were able to identify and recover two stolen vehicles and two males were charged.
On Tuesday, just before 9 a.m., L&A OPP were called to respond to a report of a stolen truck that was travelling east on Hwy 401 towards Tyendinaga Township.
Quinte West OPP had advised L&A OPP that they had received an automatic Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) hit on the truck.
Police were able to locate the vehicle that was still travelling east on Deseronto Road.
They say the vehicle did not stop when emergency lights were activated, leading to a spike belt being deployed in front of the truck at Palace Road.
All four of the tires hit the spike belt and the truck exited County Road 4.
While police were following the truck, another ALPR hit was found, this time for a stolen Jeep.
The Jeep also happened to be heading east on Highway 401 at County Road 4.
Police were able to block the Jeep and stopped the vehicle with no damage to either the stolen Jeep or police vehicles.
The lone person in the Jeep was taken to the L&A County detachment after being arrested.
Meanwhile, the stolen truck had driven off to a field off County Road 4 and County Road 2. The lone driver fled on foot.
OPP were able to contain the area. They received help from their Canine Unit as well as Kingston Police’s Canine Unit to search the area for the male driver.
Police say after an extensive search the man was located and arrested without incident.
In the stolen truck investigation, a 27-year-old male from Lachine, Quebec was charged with the following:
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5000
- Flight from police officer
- Dangerous driving
- Obstruct Peace officer
In the stolen Jeep investigation, a 36-year-old man from Saint-Hubert, Quebec was charged with the following:
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5000

Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
OPP say the names and court dates will be released once charges are sworn in.
