A point streak that began in late October has come to an end in the U.S.
The Buffalo Junior Sabres jumped ahead 4-1 and held on to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks 5-4 ending their 15-game point streak.
It was Trenton’s first regulation since October 22.
David Fournier led the G-Hawks with his 10th and 11th of the season.
Barret Joynt scored his 22nd and Corbin Roach his 15th.
Despite the loss, Trenton still enjoys a sizeable nine-point lead atop the OJHL’s East Conference.
They host the Lindsay Muskies Friday night.
G-Hawk leads Canada East
Team Canada East improved to 3-0 with a 5-0 skunk of Sweden at the World Junior A Hockey Championships in Truro Nova Scotia.
Taeo Artichuk of the Trenton Golden Hawks scored a goal and assist while Belleville native Trevor Hoskin added an assist. Hoskin, who plays for the Cobourg Cougars of the OJHL, is in second place in the tournament scoring with a goal and five assists.
Canada East will play their final game of the round robin Friday against the United States.
The medal round goes this weekend.
