The Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair annually holds a poster
contest. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for young artists to
create a poster that can be used as background for all publications.
The grand prize this year was a $50 cheque and a National Geographic
Science Kit from Staples.
This year’s winner is Jack Brown, a grade 12 student in the Visual Arts
Program at Centennial Secondary School. His poster featured a digital
rendition of the NASA space shuttle blasting off into space. The
computer-generated image was very impressive. It represents the clear
connection between art and science that the QRSTF Committee seeks in a
winning poster.
The poster is viewable at qrstf.ca. and will be reproduced in
advertising literature and awards booklet. The upcoming fair will be held
April 6 at Centennial.
