After renovations to provide additional space, the Frankford Food Pantry has reopened.
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Frankford Christian Reformed Church, the official reopening was announced.
The food pantry had closed temporarily to allow renovations to the space, giving them a larger pantry space with new freezers, shelves and lights.
Tena Groot Nibelink, from the Food Pantry, said that they’re really happy to reopen.
“It makes a really big difference actually. The space that we had before was adequate, but that was all,” said Groot Nibelink. “It was kind of dark. It was a very small space. We always have one volunteer that goes in with a person when they come for food and it was tight.”
Food Pantry usage has gone up in recent years, with 2023 breaking the 2013 record of people served, 930 people have been helped so far in 2023.
The food pantry is accepting both cash and food donations. Details on how to donate or access their services can be found at their website here.
