Belleville police pulled in more than 1,000 kg of food and $800 in donations Thursday at the Cram-the-Cruiser event at Joe’s No Frills on Bell Blvd.
But, perhaps in a sign of the times, those numbers are down from last year.
The 1,090 kg of food donations was down about 10 kg from 2022.
Cash donations were well down as the $817 is only about half of what was received last year.
Belleville police service thanks the public for their support and reminds everyone that Gleaners is still accepting food and cash donations at their main headquarters at 25 Wallbridge Crescent.
The office will be closed from December 23 until January 3.
