There was a milestone moment Monday at North Hastings Hospital in Bancroft.
A new state of the art CT scanner, commonly known as a Cat Scan, arrived and is being installed in a newly renovated space at the hospital.
In celebration, Quinte Health’s Board of Directors, in a meeting at North Hastings Hospital Tuesday afternoon, presented the Values in Action Award to four people instrumental in fundraising and the overall effort to bring the technology to north Hastings County.
They were Manager Tammy Davis, Fund Development Committee Chair Kim Bishop, Lead Physician Dr. Parambir Keila, and retired physician Dr. Peter McEnery.
Training on the scanner begins in January and it’s hoped it will be fully operational by March.
A CT scanner shows detailed images of any part of the body, including bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels.
CT scans are more detailed than standard X-rays.
At last report the Back the Cat fundraising campaign was very close to its $2.8 million goal for the Cat Scan.
