The Belleville Downtown District Business Improvement Area is seeking funding to continue its Welcoming Streets Program.
Executive Director of the BIA, Danielle Hanoman, with an endorsement from Belleville Police Chief Mike Callaghan, will make a deputation to Belleville council at its next council session on November 27 to request funding for the program.
Belleville has already provided one-time funding to the program for the 2023 year.
“Through this deputation, we strive to raise awareness for this essential, award-winning program that not only addresses systemic gaps but also reshapes perceptions of safety, continually enhancing the Downtown District’s profile,” said Hanoman.
The Welcoming Streets program provides proactive outreach to people experiencing homelessness in the community, connecting them with vital resources and support.
