A Prince Edward County OPP officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing after a man was shot by a police officer using a non-lethal weapon in Picton last summer.
The Special Investigations Unit became involved after a 66-year-old man was injured during an arrest after approaching police while carrying a weapon on his property on July 23.
Earlier that day OPP were notified the man had fired several shots on the property and police responded.
The investigation also revealed that a week earlier the man had sent a letter to the OPP threatening to shoot them if they arrived at his property.
The man suffered superficial bite wounds from a police dog during the arrest.
The SIU says there were no reasonable grounds to press charges against the officer.
