Belleville police responded to 63 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on November 16, 2023 to 5 a.m. on November 17, 2023.
Stolen Vehicle
On November 6, 2023 at 10:15 a.m., Belleville police received a report regarding a vehicle that had been stolen from a Bridge Street West address. Police were able to view the residential security video and recognized the suspect involved. An arrest warrant was issued for 41-year-old Travis Todhunter of Belleville for theft of a motor vehicle. On November 16, police observed the suspect on Turnbull Street and took him into custody. Todhunter was held for a show cause hearing and will appear in court on November 17.
RIDE – Operation of Motor Vehicle Over 80mgs.
On November 16, 2023, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Belleville police were conducting a RIDE check on Cannifton Road. Officers stopped a vehicle and spoke to a driver while observing two open cans of beer in the automobile. The investigative stop determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol in the vehicle and a roadside breath test was performed. Subsequently, the driver was arrested on scene for operation of a motor vehicle while blood/alcohol content exceeded 80mgs. The 49-year-old driver, Dannie Follest, of Tweed, was arrested and charged with drive over 80mgs. Mr. Follest was later released on his own recognizance and will appear in court on December 14, 2023. His vehicle was seized at the roadside.
