John Trudeau, a local businessman known for selling vehicles under Trudeau Motors, has passed away.
An obituary states he passed away peacefully on Sunday at Belleville General Hospital.
Trudeau worked with his father and brother to help run the family automobile business, selling Chevrolet, Cadillac, Oldsmobile and later Saturn vehicles.
His work was recognized with a Citizen of the Year award in 1986 and Time Magazine’s New Car Dealer of the Year in 1989. Trudeau also served on the Canadian Automobile Association’s Board of Directors.
He had previously served as president of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and was known as a supporter of Belleville’s celebrations and festivals.
Trudeau was 88.
