Quinte News has learned the small window broken at an east end Belleville place of worship was at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue.
Early Tuesday morning around 6:30, Belleville police say a congregation member reported that they advised a man who had approached the front of the building that it was closed to the public.
It’s alleged the man then walked to the west side of building and smashed a window.
Police arrived and arrested a 44-year-old suspect from British Columbia.
He was charged with mischief under $5,000.
The suspect was held for a bail hearing.
Police say there is no evidence to suggest the crime was hate-motivated.
