Traffic stop leads to charges
On October 24, 2023 at 12:20 p.m., a Belleville police officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Butler Lane and Moira Street West which had no plates on it. The driver was determined to be the owner of the vehicle. The driver was unable to provide any valid insurance for the vehicle and cannabis was observed inside the vehicle accessible to the driver. As a result, the 40-year-old driver of no fixed address was charged with driving with no plates, operating a vehicle with no insurance and having cannabis readily available. The driver was released with a December traffic court date.
Breach of Probation
On October 24, 2023 at 2:30 p.m., Belleville police responded to an east end apartment building regarding an intimate partner dispute. Officers arrived on scene and located an intoxicated male who was causing issues. It was determined that the male was also currently on probation with conditions not to attend the address or communicate with the female he was arguing with. As a result, the 32-year-old male from Belleville was arrested for two counts of breaching his probation order. He was later released on an undertaking with a November court date.
Arrested on Warrants
On October 24, 2023 at 1:05 p.m., members of Project Renewal arrested a 39-year-old female from Trenton on outstanding warrants which were in effect from another police agency. The female was observed and arrested while in the downtown core. Further investigation revealed that she was also failing to comply with conditions of a current release order. As a result, the female was additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was held for a bail hearing.
