The Belleville Sens have won their home opener game this season, defeating the Laval Rocket 5-4 at CAA Arena.
Graham McPhee, Zack MacEwen, Brennan Saulnier, and Zack Ostapchuk scored for the Senators.
The Sens got off to an early start with a goal after just two minutes of play, and a second one a few minutes later. The Rocket got their first of the night, but still ended the first frame down a point.
The Rocket tied the game early in the second period, only for the Sens to come back a minute later and take back their lead. The Sens grabbed an extra goal before the period ended to extend their lead slightly.
In the third period, the Rocket grabbed two more goals to try and even the score, but the Senators kept their narrow lead with one more of their own, securing the win.
Senators head coach Dave Bell was happy with the win.
“We probably could have played a lot better than we did, but a win’s a win, so we’ll take it and run with it,” said Bell. “You’ve gotta give credit to our fourth line. They didn’t play a lot, but when we didn’t have momentum, they went out and got it and actually got us two goals.”
The Senators will face the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday.
