Lennox and Addington OPP are searching for a suspect after a stolen vehicle caused a wreck on a Hwy 401 on-ramp on Thursday.
Police were first alerted to the vehicle after receiving a call about the stolen vehicle travelling east on the 401 through Napanee. The owner was tracking the vehicle using an apple air tag.
Police followed the vehicle, and the driver attempted to flee at a high speed. Police were forced to stop the pursuit due to risks posed to other drivers. The driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to exit the 401 at Division Street, but struck a white Volkswagen from behind, pushing it into a ditch. The driver abandoned the stolen vehicle shortly after and fled the area on foot.
The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
K-9 units attempted to track the fleeing suspect but were unsuccessful.
The OPP was later advised by the Tyendinaga Police Service that the suspect was spotted in a store on the reserve, and photos were taken of them.
Police are asking anyone with information about this person to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
