The Quinte Economic Development Commission says industry is expanding in the Quinte region.
CEO Chris King shared details about industry growth in the region during Thursday’s board of directors meeting.
King said they are working to attract new industries and employers to the area.
“We have companies we’ve been working with for a number of months that are still moving along the process,” said King. “We have some that are at the early stages, just looking at the area of considering maybe this is one of several regions they may grow to, and we have some they’re moving along more advanced and will eventually turn new investments to the area as well.”
While the commission is working to attract new industry to the area, existing industries are also expanding.
Statistics in a report by the commission show that 66% of local industries have plans to expand, while 27% are looking to expand their buildings or facilities.
Workers are also in demand for these expanded industries, as 86% of local industries are actively recruiting more workers.
