The decision has been made by Ontario Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, and Belleville Legion Branch 99 will be moving out of its downtown district location in the near future.
The Legion, with its 260 members, will be setting up shop in the former Shrine Club building on Highland Avenue in the west end.
The Legion will not pay rent but will be responsible for utilities and maintenance on the building.
The City of Belleville had given Branch 99 until the end of the year to make way for further development of the Memorial Arena area by Task Force Engineering.
Legion officials will be releasing more details on its move and future plans at a press conference at their new location Tuesday.
