The City of Belleville is looking to add a Human Resources manager.
At Tuesday’s meeting, council will be asked to approve the creation of the Manager of Human Resources position and approve money for the position from the 2024 operating budget.
The position of Human Resources Assistant would be removed.
In a report for council, city staff note the HR Department faces many challenges due to the growth of the corporation and has increased the demands for HR support.
While the salary for the HR Manager will be higher than that of the assistant’s salary, staff say a dedicated manager will further strengthen their HR capabilities and enable them to provide more proactive HR services.
It will also allow the HR Director to focus on strategic initiatives.
Council is being asked to approve an extra $58,700 for the position in the 2024 Operating Budget, the amount staff have determined as the difference in salary allocation between the assistant and manager position.
Council meets at Tuesday at 4 p.m. at City Hall.
