Charges against one of three Belleville police officers charged by the province’s Special Investigations Unit in 2019 have been withdrawn.
An assault causing bodily harm charge was withdrawn against Constable Kyle Dodds last week.
Meanwhile, a trial for the other two officers facing the same charge, Constables Paul Fyke and Jeffrey Smith, will begin with jury selection in a Belleville courtroom Tuesday October 10.
The trio were initially charged after a November 2019 incident when a man was injured while being arrested inside a KFC/Taco Bell restaurant on North Front Street.
The trial has been scheduled for three weeks.
The Crown Attorney will be the Deputy Director at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Ian Bulmer.
Harry Black will represent Constable Smith while Kimberley Miles will represent Constable Fyke.
