One major project lifted building activity in Quinte West last month over September 2022.
One less permit was issued, however, construction value was well up.
The Building Department reports 51 permits with a construction value of $10.9 million were issued in September.
Last year’s 52 permits were worth only $4.3 million.
A permit for a $6.5 million addition to the former Nestle plant on Douglas Rd. accounts for the difference.
The plant was purchased last year by Ed Lamers and Ewart McLaughlin who also run Tillsonburg Custom Foods.
Rachel’s Tarts also moved into the location.
Year-to-date construction value is down slightly.
Quinte West has issued 481 permits worth $115.4 million so far this year compared to 631 permits with a construction value of $118.9 over the first nine months of 2022.
